Project Overview
This project involved the installation of a durable carport roof using Jietai corrugated polycarbonate sheets for a residential property. The client required a lightweight, weather-resistant roofing solution that could provide reliable protection for two vehicles while maintaining an attractive appearance. The carport measures approximately 6m x 5m and is attached to the main house structure.
The Challenge
The site presented several challenges: exposure to strong winds during typhoon season, the need for natural light transmission to avoid a dark parking area, and limited structural load capacity of the existing wall attachment points. Traditional roofing materials such as metal sheets would have been too heavy and would block all natural light, while glass would pose safety risks and cost concerns.
Our Solution
We recommended Jietai PC corrugated sheets (PC840 profile, 2.5mm thickness) for the carport roof. The corrugated profile provides excellent structural rigidity while the translucent polycarbonate material allows approximately 80% light transmission, creating a bright parking space during daylight hours without the need for artificial lighting. The lightweight nature of PC sheets (approximately 1.2kg/m²) reduced the structural load requirements significantly.
